About This Piece
A dining table is the most important piece of furniture in a home. It's where families gather, where meals are shared, where conversations happen. It deserves to be built accordingly.
This table starts with a solid walnut top — typically a glued-up panel of 8/4 (two-inch) walnut boards, carefully selected and arranged for grain continuity. The top is flattened by hand with a hand plane, not just run through a drum sander.
The base is built with the same attention: mortise and tenon joinery throughout, with wedged through-tenons visible on the outside as a design detail that also makes the joint stronger. The finish is a hard wax oil that provides excellent protection against the spills and heat of daily dining use.
