About This Piece
This coffee table begins as a single slab of American black walnut — selected by hand at the mill for exceptional grain, figure, and character. No two are alike.
The live edge is preserved exactly as nature left it, cleaned and stabilized but never shaped into a straight line. The underside reveals the full thickness of the slab, typically 2–3 inches of solid hardwood.
The base is fabricated from solid walnut or blackened steel depending on your preference, fitted with traditional mortise and tenon joinery where wood meets wood. The finish is a hand-rubbed penetrating oil that deepens the natural color and protects the surface while keeping the wood looking and feeling like wood — not plastic.
